About Kaitlin
Kaitlin Tortorich is the 2009 Women’s National Power Tumbling Champion having successfully defended her
2008 title.

In 2008, she successfully defended her 2007 Elite Challenge Title as well as her 2007 Stars and Stripes Title.
She was selected to represent the United States, as a member of the Women’s National Power Tumbling
Team in 2007.   Her first assignment was to Lake Placid, New York for World Cup competition where she
placed 11th.

Next she traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia where she finished in 2nd place receiving the silver medal in
tumbling.   Kaitlin traveled next to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada where she and her teammates won the Gold
Medal for the United States in the World Championships.

Individually, she finished 8th having suffered a break in her ankle during her final tumbling pass.   After a brief
medical leave, she traveled to Loule, Portugal where she experienced a re occurrence of her ankle injury.

When she returned home it was straight to surgery. After healing and therapy, she returned to practice where
she landed badly after her tumbling pass and injured her knee. It was back to surgery, healing and therapy
which caused her to miss the early part of the 2009 season thereby a miss at defending her titles until the
National Competition.

Kaitlin has been a member of the Senior National Tumbling Team since 2006 and prior to that  was a member
of the Junior National Power Tumbling Team since 2003.

Originally from Mandeville, Louisiana, Kaitlin and her family relocated to the Northern Virginia area thanks to
Hurricane Katrina. After riding out the storm in her family home, she and the family emerged to see the
destruction Katrina brought. Among the things damaged were her home and her gym, American Center for Elite
Sports. Things being what they were, the family moved to Northern Virginia to train with the National Power
Tumbling Team Coach Sergio Galvez in spring 2006. She has repeatedly shown her dedication and talent by
competing and winning against all odds.
